Cecil Fielder slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI at Metrodome where the
blistering-hot Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins by the score of 13 to
8.
Fielder had a big evening at the plate. He doubled plating a run in the 1st
inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning. Minnesota
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Steve Searcy(1-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Allan Anderson(2-4) ended up with the loss. He allowed a
few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
'Some losses are harder to take than others' Tom Kelly lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
