  San Diego Padre's Fred McGriff had a big day at the plate today in the highest scoring game played so far this season in MLB. McGriff hit 3 homeruns and drove in 6 while the Padres defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 20-11.

Fred McGriff launched 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the San Diego Padres beat
the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 20 to 11.
 
McGriff propelled San Diego to victory.  He lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run in the 1st inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in
the 3rd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 6th
inning.  San Diego bats were very productive in the 6th inning when they had
12 runs on 11 hits.  Overall San Diego out-hit Pittsburgh 21 to 16.  
 
Rich Rodriguez(3-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. John Costello
earned his 1st save.  Bob Walk(4-1) suffered the loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns
in 5 and 1/3 innings of work.  
 
'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park tonight,' McGriff said.  'I'm
glad I decided to play!'
