1991 MLB Season Prologue

I recently purchased the 1991 SOM baseball cards and will be using them as I replay the '91 season on the computer. I'll be managing the Detroit Tigers, a team that finished tied for 2nd place (84-78) in the AL East. Detroit finished 7 games behind the Division winning Toronto Blue Jays. The Tigers featured a team that relied heavily on the homerun, scoring a lot of runs (2nd most in the AL) but striking out a lot too. The pitching staff was mediocre at best, allowing the 2nd most runs in the AL that season. I expect a lot of high scoring games while managing this Tiger team.
The 1991 MLB season culminated in one of the most tightly contested World Series ever. The AL Champion Minnesota Twins ended up defeating the NL Champion Atlanta Braves in 7 games, winning Game 7 in 10 innings 1-0. The AL West Champion Twins (95-67) got to the World Series by defeating the AL East Champion Blue Jays (91-71) 4 games to 1. In the NL, the Atlanta Braves (94-68) won the NL West on the last day of the season, finishing 1 game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves defeated the NL East Division winning Pittsburgh Pirates (98-64) in the NL Championship series 4 games to 3.
