1991 AL Game of Note: NY @ Det.

August 2, 1991

 The Detroit Tigers won their 8th in a row tonight with a dramatic 3-2 come from behind victory over the New York Yankees. The Tigers trailing 2-0, got a run in the 8th and Dave Bergman hit a walk off 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th, extending the Detroit winning streak to the delight of the hometown fans.

Dave Bergman jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI and Frank Tanana
went the distance as the streaking Detroit Tigers came back to win one over
New York Yankees, 3 to 2.
 
Detroit scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs.  Mickey Tettleton led off and he drew a walk.  Rob Deer was the next
batter, but he struck out.  Bergman then smashed a two-run homer giving
Detroit the victory as 51,812 happy fans celebrated wildly.  Both teams
totaled 5 hits on the night.  
 
Tanana(12-6) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Steve Farr(2-4)
suffered the loss in relief.  'Now that is what I call fun! I just love
baseball, especially games like this, of course,' Sparky Anderson offered.
'Everyone at the stadium had a great time - did you see the fans go wild
there at the end?!'
