TEAM RISP- White Sox: 3 for 10 Tigers: 1 for 6

Robin Ventura collected 2 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI at Tiger Stadium as
the Chicago White Sox came back dramatically to top the Detroit Tigers by the
score of 6 to 4.

Chicago won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs on
3 hits. Craig Grebeck led off the inning for Chicago when he doubled. Mike
Henneman then had one get away for a wild pitch. Mike Huff then lined a
single which scored a run. Ron Karkovice got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes. One out later, Tim Raines came up and he
drew a walk. Ventura joined his teammates in the uprising and tripled with
two more runners crossing home. For the game Chicago out-hit Detroit 11 to
4.

Donn Pall(5-2) got the win allowing no runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. Pall got
help from Melido Perez who was credited with his 4th save. The loss was
charged to Henneman(7-5) in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 2
hits and 1 walk.

After the game, it took a long while before Sparky Anderson emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as
I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the Chicago locker room.'
