In a very compelling and well pitched game tonight, the Detroit Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-2 in 13 innings. Boston's Roger Clemens and Detroit's Frank Tanana dueled thru 10 innings with the score tied 2-2. Alan Trammell had evened the score in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out when he hit a homerun for Detroit, sending the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 13th inning, Rob Deer hit a solo blast into the leftfield seats to give Detroit the victory. Mike Henneman, who had just come off the injured list, pitched 2 scoreless innings and got the Win for the Tigers.

Frank Tanana carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Alan Trammell had 4
hits as the sizzling Detroit Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox in 13 innings
by the score of 3 to 2 at Tiger Stadium.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Detroit won it in the 13th
inning. After an out was recorded, Rob Deer lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'
resulting in an exciting win for Detroit and a wild post-game celebration by
the home town fans. Boston had 11 hits in the game while Detroit had 8, but
Detroit had the more timely hits.
Mike Henneman(8-6) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. The
left-handed Tanana lost his no-hit bid when Tom Brunansky singled with nobody
out in the 6th inning. Greg Harris(5-12) ended up with the loss in relief.
He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 2 innings.
