Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 15 innings 4 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Pittsburgh
pulled the game out in the 15th inning. Bell doubled. After an out was
recorded, Bobby Bonilla came up and he was walked intentionally. Barry Bonds
then stroked a one-base hit giving Pittsburgh the victory as 53,023 happy
fans celebrated wildly. Pittsburgh finished with 16 hits while St. Louis
ended up with 8.
Roger Mason(6-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. The loss
was charged to Bob McClure(1-3) in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
