Chuck Finley racked up an impressive total of 15 strikeouts and right fielder
Dave Winfield collected 4 RBI with one swing of the bat at Anaheim Stadium as
the California Angels, running on all cylinders, ripped the slumping New York
Yankees by a large 13 to 3 margin.

Winfield enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He electrified the crowd with a
Grand Slam home run in the 3rd inning, hit a single in the 6th inning and
banged out a one-base hit in the 7th inning. California banged out 13 hits
on the night.

The victory was credited to Finley(2-2) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. Andy Hawkins(1-2) was hit with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 5
hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Finley - except New York. Stump
Merrill lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off
balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun
game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
