1991 AL Game: Tor. @ Det.

August 16, 1991

The Toronto Blue Jays come into Detroit for a 3 game Series starting today. It'll be the last time the two teams are scheduled to play each other this season. The 2nd place Blue Jays were hoping to gain some ground on the 1st place Tigers but Detroit got off to a fast start in tonight's game and led 4-0 after 2 innings, chasing starter Jimmy Key from the mound. Cecil Fielder hit a solo homer in the 1st and added a 2-run shot in the 7th to lead the Tigers to a 7-3 victory. The homeruns were Fielder's 42nd and 43rd of the season, tops in the AL. Pitcher John Cerutti went 7 innings for the Win. Toronto now falls 9 games behind Detroit in the AL East.
