The Pittsburgh Pirates evened the 1991 World Series at 2 games apiece by defeating the Chicago White Sox 4-1 tonight. The Pirates led 2-1 in the 7th inning when Gary Redus hit a 2-run homer off Wilson Alvarez to give Pittsburgh a little breathing room in another close ballgame. Randy Tomlin got the Win, allowing no runs in 5 1/3 innings. Jack McDowell was tagged with the loss although he allowed only 2 runs in his 6 innings of work.

Pittsburgh went ahead for good in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating one
baserunner. Rosario Rodriguez was perfect in relief and got the save, his
1st.
Randy Tomlin(1-0) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jack
McDowell(1-1) took the loss. His ERA increased from 2.00 to 2.40 as he
allowed 2 runs in 6 innings.
